Catch Us If You Can

We are merely 13 games into a 38 game season but there is one force that shows no signs of slowing up. Manchester City sit on 37 points with their only dropped points being a draw with lowly Everton back on the 22nd August.

City have savaged teams early in the season by smashing in 42 goals including games with five or more goals against Liverpool, Watford, Crystal Palace and Stoke.

Their current unbeaten run in all competitions stands at 26 games, and a visit from Southampton tomorrow morning should make that 27.

Now I know it's very early in the season to predict these things (as we still have around 6 months of the Premier League remaining) but their current form is just irresistible. If they can continue at this rate, they will obliterate Chelsea's record season goal tally of 103 back in 2009-10 with City on track for 120+ goals.

Pep Guardiola has a plethora of stars at his disposal. He added defensive stars Kyle Walker, Benjamin

Mendy, Danilo and goalkeeper Ederson during the off-season to round off an already solid team. Guardiola has his team operating at the peak of their powers. He's strengthened areas they were weak and has even made sure City's backup players are of near world-class ability. Take the likes of Yaya Toure, Ilkay Gungodan and Vincent Kompany who now struggle to get a game in this side but would still slip into any other starting eleven in the League.

The damage though is being done at the top end of the park.

The much talked about Sergio Aguero is at his brilliant best having scored nine in nine this term to go along with three assists. In my eyes, along with Aguero, both Leroy Sane and Kevin De Bruyne have been a cut above the rest in the Premier League this term. De Bruyne has been the real barometer in midfield shelling out six assists to go with his three cracking goals. He has got better and better each season he has played since arriving in the league with Chelsea and should Manchester City win the title, De Bruyne would deserve to be discussed alongside the best in the world.

Sane is not to be outdone though with the stunning return of six goals and six assists. He has the confidence and freedom to attack and take on players at will - with much success. He has all the skills needed to perform at the top level. For only 21 years of age, his pace and dribbling ability is quite frankly scary. Very reminiscent of a young Gareth Bale.

City have already racked up wins against fellow title hopefuls Arsenal, Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and a complete annihilation of Liverpool. Their derby match with United on December 11 could well put further daylight to any challengers for the title. A win for City and their lead could balloon out to eight points or more after only 15 games.

FACT - The only other time a team in the Premier League era had this many points after 13 games was guess who... Manchester City when they won the title in 2011-12. Will we see history repeat itself in 2017-18?
