The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Another season has wrapped up so why not line up the best and the worst of season 2016/17.
Chelsea were the eventual Champions doing it with ease in the end while Sunderland, Hull City and Middlesborough were relegated to the Championship.
Let's kick things off with the Best Free-Kick of the Year. And the winner is... David Luiz for this quick-thinking effort against Liverpool at Anfield. .
A few honourable mentions to go along with this cracker are:
Wayne Rooney v Stoke City
Phillipe Coutinho v Arsenal
Romelu Lukaku v Crystal Palace
Kevin De Bruyne v Bournemouth
Foul of the Year // Laurent Koscielny
This late entry came on the last day against Everton which saw Koscielny see a straight red and an early shower. The early send-off means the Frenchman will miss Arsenal's FA Cup Final agaisnt Chelsea's this weekend.
Save of the Year // Tibaut Courtois
This would have to be one of the best saves I have seen in the Premier League. Courtios was full stretch to his right to save an injury time shot from on-loan counterpart Patrick Van Aanholt, ensuring the three points returned with the Blues to Stamford Bridge.
Van Aanholt somehow fashioned some room on the edge of the box but could not beat the Belgian International and rescue a point for the Black Cats.
Honourable mentions:
David De Gea v Liverpool
Tom Heaton v Manchester United
Disgrace of the Year // Sergio Aguero
Aguero takes the cake for this horrible tackle on David Luiz, reminiscent of a similar tackle during the FA Cup in 2013. Aguero lunges in with a two-footed studs up challenge that floored Luiz.
Clearly having a frustrating day, Aguero took all that pent up anger out on the Brazilian which earned him a straight red and an early shower. A scuffle ensued where Fernandinho became involved and followed his teammate down the tunnel for a shove on Cesc Fabregas.
Honourable mention:
Diego Costa for his questionable celebration involving teammate John Terry...
Goal of the Year // Emre Can
Can's sensational goal against Watford recently, sees him take out our Goal of the Year in a hot field. With a very high level of difficulty, Can somehow creates the chance whilst running at full tilt, adjusting his body to the flight of the ball and the end result is a quite stunning goal.
Eden Hazard has a case to put forward for his solo effort against Arsenal. Taking teh ball from inside his own half, the Belgian magician takes on three Arsenal defenders to slot the ball past a helpless Petr Cech.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan or Olivier Giroud could have both won with their respective scorpion goals for both Manchester United and Arsenal as well.
